Understanding the Pharmacological Action of Finasteride

Finasteride is a widely used medication known for its effectiveness in treating specific hormonal conditions. This drug is particularly popular among men facing issues related to androgen sensitivity, such as hair loss and prostate enlargement.

Finasteride is a medication that belongs to the class of drugs known as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which is responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By reducing DHT levels in the body, Finasteride can help treat conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern baldness. Mechanism of Action

Finasteride’s primary mechanism of action involves the following steps:
